Summary:
Lightweight and multi-functional composite structures are widely used in aerospace, marine, automobile industries due to their high specific stiffness, strength, excellent energy absorption, vibration suppression and other multifunctional designability. Common configurations include metallic, polymer, composite honeycomb corrugated and lattice core sandwich structures, etc. The current challenge is how to combine the engineering requirements and realize the multi-functional integration of the structure through optimal design. This symposium focuses on the design methods, fabricating techniques, mechanical property evaluation of lightweight and multi-functional composite structures studied by means of theory, simulation and experiment.
